প্রতিটি ধাপ শেষ হলে পরেরটিতে যান। ধাপ টপকে গেলে পরে ফিরে আসতে হয়, তাই ক্রম বদলাবেন না।Finish each step before the next. Skipping one usually means coming back to it later, so keep the order.

1. ১1

   মেরিন একাডেমিতে ভর্তিEnter the marine academy

   লিখিত পরীক্ষা, শারীরিক সক্ষমতা ও চক্ষু পরীক্ষা। দৃষ্টিশক্তি এখানে কঠোরভাবে দেখা হয়।A written test, a fitness test and an eye test. Eyesight is checked strictly here.

2. ২2

   নটিক্যাল বা ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিংNautical or engineering

   নটিক্যাল শাখা জাহাজ চালায়, ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং শাখা ইঞ্জিন দেখে। দুটোরই চাহিদা সমান।The nautical branch sails the ship, the engineering branch runs the engine. Both are equally in demand.

3. ৩3

   সমুদ্রে প্রশিক্ষণSea time

   ক্যাডেট হিসেবে প্রায় এক বছর সমুদ্রে। এটিই সবচেয়ে কঠিন ধাপ, এবং এখানেই অনেকে ছেড়ে দেন।About a year at sea as a cadet. This is the hardest step, and where many give up.

4. ৪4

   সিওসি পরীক্ষাCertificate of competency

   শ্রেণি অনুযায়ী সিওসি পরীক্ষা। প্রতিটি ধাপে পদোন্নতি ও বেতন বাড়ে।A certificate of competency at each class. Every step brings a promotion and a raise.

5. ৫5

   স্থলে ফেরার পথThe route back ashore

   দশ বছর সমুদ্রের পর বন্দর ব্যবস্থাপনা, সার্ভে বা শিপিং কোম্পানিতে স্থলভিত্তিক চাকরি।After ten years at sea, port management, surveying or a shore job with a shipping company.
